Susana Martinez-Conde is a Professor of Ophthalmology, Neurology, and Physiology & Pharmacology at the State University of New York. She is best known for her studies on illusions, eye movements and perception, neurological disorders, and attentional misdirection in stage magic. Susana complements her award-winning research with extensive science communication, education and public outreach. She presides the Neural Correlate Society, which hosts the annual “Best Illusion of the Year Contest”, now in its 11th edition. She writes frequently for Scientific American and has a regular column in Scientific American Mind on the neuroscience of illusion. Among her distinctions are the “Eyetrack Award” for her research on Parkinsonian patients, and the “100 Spaniards” Prize.” She is the 2014 recipient of the Science Educator Award, given by the international Society for Neuroscience (40,000 members) to an outstanding neuroscientist who has made significant contributions to educating the public.

Our team has been working hard behind the scenes to bring you a superb program for EG2020. However, in light of growing and legitimate concerns regarding the rapid spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) which have gutted international events of all sizes, we have made the difficult decision to put EG on hiatus until it is once again deemed safe.


We know how much each of you look forward to EG and we were looking forward to seeing old friends, and welcoming many new ones, but we do need to prioritize the health and safety of our attendees, presenters, and partners, especially those traveling from afar.

We will be in touch in due course with future plans.
